SRI LANKA TRAVEL TIPS
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO SRI LANKA??? The best time to visit Sri Lanka is from December to March where you can expect sunny skies and less rainfall; during this period, it is good for whale-watching as well. The best weather on the other hand is from April/May to September where the weather is slightly more chilly.
WHY SRI LANKA? Sri Lanka is unique country that blends several key points of the 'purpose of travel' of our clients
1) nice beaches located at the south beach, clean waters, good for suntanning
2) shopping / art of bargaining in Colombo Town
3) experience cold weather at Nuwara Eliya
4) YALA NATIONAL PARK – authentic animal safari onboard jeep (to closest to an African experience)
5) food food food!
SHOULD I TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE BEFORE VISITING SRI LANKA: We know that a lot of things can happen from the time you book your holiday to the actual date so whenever you are travelling it would be good precaution to have travel insurance.

ARE THERE DIRECT FLIGHTS TO COLOMBO, SRI LANKA FROM SINGAPORE? Yes, at the moment, there are 3 flights – Sri Lanka Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Emirates. The most preferred one is by Sri Lanka where they have 3 flights daily to/fro Singapore, they too have the best timings from the other two choice. Singapore Airlines only have a midnight flight into Colombo and coming back is past midnight as well, thus you may experience longer waiting time at the airport rather than enjoying the tour. Occasionally, Emirates do have promo fares which are the cheaper option from the other two; however flying into Colombo past midnight and coming back will be at 1400 hours which is ideal as after checking out from the hotel, guests can head to the airport straight.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK? A valid passport, sun block, summer clothings, and a camera are all you need! However you may need some jacket should you visit Nuwara Eliya highlands where temperature at night can be as cold as 10 degrees. There is to bring proper footwear too as you may need some hiking (up Dambulla Rock Fotress/Yala National Park). Do also bring an international adapter where you can charge your electronic device to keep in touch with your love ones while sharing the enjoyment moments you will have in Sri Lanka!
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED? It is encouraged to bring USD while you are in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka rupees as a national currency is accepted as well, however should you have any extra cash with you while going back, the currency may not hold any worth should you wish to have it changed back to your original currency. Otherwise, credit card is widely accept in hotels and restaurants.
WHAT KIND OF ELECTRIC OUTLET IS USED IN THE SRI LANKA? Voltage is 220v and plug is 3 pins round which is easy to find in Sri Lanka. You can even ask your hotel reception should they rent it out to you , other than that you can try buying the universal adaptor.
DO I NEED A VISA? At the moment, only citizens from Singapore, Maldives and Seychelles do not require any visa upon entry. Otherwise, for other nationalities, you may visit http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/ for more information
MEAL OPTIONS? All our Sri Lanka tours are fullboard meals. Majority of the time (other than in Colombo where you can request), you will be served with Indian fusion food. For our muslim friends, you can request for halal meals as well. Should you require oriental meals, you may request to have them while in Colombo town. However do note that special request are subject to availability
WHAT HAPPENS UPON ARRIVAL AT COLOMBO AIRPORT? You will be met by our airport representative, holding board with your name on it at the arrival area. As our Sri Lanka tours are all private, They will then assist you with your luggage and escort you to the hotel for check in and depending on the itinerary flow, proceed for the next leg of your travel itinerary
THINGS TO NOTE? All the entrance fees to sites are already inclusive, thus, there is no need for anymore additional payment other than guide tipping which is recommended USD 3-5 per person/day which you will be required to give at the end of the tour.

  1. Janouskova

Let me write just few words about our amazing holidays in Sri Lanka.

First, very much thanks to our local guide Michael who was very patient, knowledgeable, gave us a lot of information about his country, drove carefully on crazy roads and gave us also additional possibilities how to spend our time there. Please let him know it again with also many greetings from us.

The trip was absolutely great in the way of organisation. We saw so many during this trip, even more than in itinerary (turtles sanctuary + boat trip in Induruwa, village safari trip + elephant ride in Habarana, etc.).

Absolutely fantastic were hotels in Habarana (Sorowwa Resort & Spa), Kandy (Serene Grand Hotel, we were the only guests there) and in Induruwa (Pandanus Beach Resort & Spa). All of those had nice and helpfull staff and mainly excellent food. We enjoyed it very much.

One more thought we had was that it may be good to add 1 additional day on the beach as Pandanus Hotel, so that the travellers can take a short rest at the end of their Sri Lanka trip. Both the hotel and the beach were very nice.

That is all from our side. Thanks a lot also to you, Loko Poko, for organising this trip and when we need a specialist in travelling in Asia we may turn on your qualities again.

    With regards,

    Family Janousek, Czech Republic

No regret at all! I believe this is the ultimate sri lanka tour as it covers almost all possible destinations. Just one thing though, still prefer to go to Yala National Park. That's the famous one. Overall extremely pleased with the arrangement before, during and after the trip!
